It’s not only an institute but a hub of technical associates whose aim is to excel in this pertained field. The seed of MCE was first sowed in the year 1960 by the then chief minister Mr. B. D. Jatti, under the second five year plan of the Government of India. It was a joint venture between, the Government of India, Government Of Karnataka and the Malnad Technical Education Society.Today MCE has grown in a huge fashion, with a strong base. MCE is one of the oldest Government Aided engineering colleges. It was affiliated to University of Mysore, Visveswaraya Technological University and now from the year 2007, it stands high and proud as an Autonomous institute.The college has got ISTE award as one of the best engineering colleges in the country.It has also got funding from world bank under TEQIP III. The institute is built on a campus of about 42 acres in one of the prime location.MCE is dedicated to give quality education to budding engineers with modern infrastructure like library, labs, and research centers.It also imparts life, fitness skills to protrude students to top heights. The college offered UG courses in mechanical, electrical and civil programs initially but now offers 9 UG and 6 PG programs. Even after 59 years, the motto “NAHI JNANENA SADRUSHAM” In Sanskrit meaning “NOTHING IS EQUAL TO KNOWLEDGE” remains achieved.

Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘ MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions(HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire, and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them int prototypes while they are informative years. MIC has envisioned encouraging the creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses. In collaboration with ME-RIISE (Malnad Enclave for Research, Innovation, Incubation, Start-ups, and Entrepreneurship ) Institution Innovation Cell has been established in the college with the vision of fostering innovation and support students to enrich their spirit of entrepreneurship.

ME-RIISE has association with ICT Academy which has led to the establishment of Centre of Excellence powered by Autodesk and Fusion 360. Workshops conducted: Fusion 360, Revit Architecture and Salesforce Developer 402 Awards:
• State Cloud Championship Award and best under institution for extensive participation in Cloud literacy month 2018

ME-RIISE, has also found a cause in bringing transformational change in rural development under Unnat Bharath Abhiyan. Five villages around Hassan have been adopted and activities are being conducted to move towards holistic development of the villages.

ME-RIISE is associated with New Age Innovation Network and is working towards bringing up incubation centers that will encourage students, researchers, scholars, and alumni to share their ideas, nurture, and bring out technical solutions to problems that are local-centric.
Entrepreneurship development and mentoring are one of the ten initiatives of KIG 2020 for creating new opportunities and jobs. One of the tasks under this head is to build ‘ KARNATAKA NEW AGE INNOVATION NETWORK.’ The main objective of the NAIN Scheme is to encourage students, research scholars, and alumni to share their ideas to solve the chosen problems which are local-centric and to validate, refine, and nurture the ideas. Incubation Center shall provide an eco-system to convert the ideas in proof of concept and upgrade them to a level of commercial value. After successful incubation, encourage and lead the teams towards setting up a business enterprise

ME-RIISE has a MoU with Atal Incubation Centre, Jyothi Institute of Technology, Bangalore. This association has provided a platform for collaborative research between two different institutes and various other activities.

Innovation lab of ME-RIISE fosters innovative activities and supports students to enrich their spirit of entrepreneurship. The innovation lab comprises IoT facilities for developing innovative projects and high-performance computing facilities for carrying out research. The Innovation Lab has facilitated the following activities and has led to establishment of two Startup Ventures.
